Building your agent

Versions and restoring your agent

Open Versions in your agent workspace to see saved snapshots and restore an earlier version. Restore changes the working version of the same agent. It does not create a separate copy or update the published agent. Test the restored preview, then publish if you want visitors to use it.

Agentplace product documentation Updated

Should I restore, duplicate, or publish?

ActionUse it whenResult
RestoreYou want to return to a saved version. The same agent uses that snapshot as its working version.
DuplicateYou want another agent to customize independently.A separate draft is created and the original remains unchanged.
PublishYou want visitors to use the working version you have reviewed. The published agent receives the update.

Return to a previous quoting flow

You change the questions in a quoting agent and prefer the earlier flow. Restore the saved version from before the change, try a quote in Preview, and publish when you are happy with the result.

How do I restore a saved version?

Restore replaces the working version you are editing. Before restoring, check that any version you want to return to appears in the saved list. Use Duplicate first if you want to keep an independent copy of the current draft.

You can restore the snapshots shown in Versions. Do not assume that every individual message or unsaved edit has its own snapshot.

  1. Open the agent in your Agentplace workspace and select Versions.
  2. Find the snapshot by its displayed date and time. The current version is marked Current.
  3. Select Restore beside the version you want and wait for the operation to finish.
  4. Open Preview and check the restored behavior with a representative task.
  5. Continue editing, or publish the restored version when you want to release it.

Does Restore change the live agent?

Restore changes the working preview. The published agent continues using its published version until you publish an update. Review the restored behavior and publishing settings before releasing it, then test the live link.

Does Restore undo customer records or external actions?

Version history restores the agent project. It is not a backup of all business records, customer sessions, or connected systems. Restoring an earlier agent does not cancel a booking, refund a payment, or recall an email that was already sent.

If you need to correct a business action or record, handle that separately in the relevant system. Test the restored agent with the current data and connections before publishing.

What if a version is missing or Restore fails?

Confirm that you opened the correct agent and that the version list finished loading. If restoring reports an error, check the Current label and Preview before continuing. Ask the Builder to help investigate the behavior you see. A failed restore should not be treated as a completed change.
